Project Hopper: UF Everglades Python Removal Program

Fund Purpose
To support research to remove invasive python species and restoring ecological balance in the Everglades. Focus of research will include, but not limited to, AI powered systems.

SAVE THE EVERGLADES.
BACK THE BUNNIES.

The Florida Everglades is under threat. More than 300,000 invasive Burmese pythons are spreading rapidly, destroying native wildlife populations. In some areas, species like marsh rabbits and foxes have declined by more than 95%.

Project Hopper is changing that. Our team at the University of Florida is developing innovative “smart decoy” bunny lures that mimic marsh rabbits in movement, heat, scent, and appearance. These lifelike decoys are designed to trigger a python’s natural hunting instinct—drawing them out of hiding and into range for removal. By making pythons easier to find and working with local trappers to remove them, we can help restore balance to the Everglades.

Whether you give $50 or $50,000, your support helps bring this solution to scale and drive a faster, more effective response to one of Florida’s most urgent environmental challenges. Thank you!
