Nelms Institute Operations and Support Fund

Support a three-year term professorship in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, within the UF Foundation Term Professorship Program. All unexpended funds revert to the Foundation after three years. Up to half the award can be used to fund the salary plus fringe of the Term Professor; all of the award may be used to defray research expenses, including graduate assistantship support. Eligible faculty may be untenured, tenured or non-tenure-track, but must have a substantial research assignment and an outstanding record of research accomplishments. Faculty may receive award once during the lifetime of the program.

The spendable income from the Innovation Pathway Fund will provide on-going support of a University's liaison's travel and other direct expenses to the Space Coast to continue exploring long-term connections, link students and faculty with the entrepreneurial and larger company tech ecosystem, connect regional organizations to the University resources including the new AI supercomputing infrastructure, work with the K-12 support system in increasing and preparing the STEM pipeline, and work with regional organizations supporting technology workforce development.
