Promote early literacy and school readiness into pediatric well-child visits.
Promote early literacy and school readiness into pediatric well-child visits.
Reach Out and Read is an early literacy program that uses well-child visits as an opportunity to encourage families to read together. Pediatricians provide age-appropriate books, along with guidance, to help support healthy child development and foster a lifelong love of reading.
As part of the program, children from birth through age five receive a new, age-appropriate book at each well-child visit. It’s something our patients and families truly enjoy, and it helps ensure that every child has access to books and early literacy opportunities regardless of socioeconomic barriers.
