This fund was established in 2009 by the Ocala Royal Dames in honor of Jean Nelson to support research and other academic programs in pediatric cancer at the College of Medicine.
Lydia Kuttas, the 2009 president of the Royal Dames, said, “Jean Nelson bravely faced cancer in her own life and that of her husband. She will always be remembered for her creativity, her loving spirit and her kindness.”

Medical Student Education Fund
Support the research, education, and clinical aspirations of 4th year medical students in the UF College of Medicine interested in pursuing surgery residency. Examples can include, but not limited to: travel for conferences, education seminars, presentations, research symposiums.
William M. Hall Professorship in Physician Assistant Studies
Support a professorship in Physician Assistant Studies within the college. Donor wishes that the College fill this position with a new faculty member who will advance research and publication activities in the School of Physician Assistant Studies, and that the new position be filled as soon as practicable but not later than June 30, 2016.
The donor is motivated by the latest accreditation report of the program which documented a "principal faculty (all faculty minus program director)" to student ratio of 17:14:1 based on a planned enrollment of 120 students. The Donor's gift is intended to add an additional faculty member to improve the ratio below the current ratio.
If, in the best judgement of the Board of Directors of the Foundation, all or part of the Gift cannot be used in the manner the described in this Agreement, the Board may use the Gift for other purposes as nearly aligned to the Donor's original intent as possible. The Donor will be consulted, if possible, regarding any changes in the use of the Gift. The Board agrees, however, that the Gift will remain within the School of Physician Assistant Studies as long as it remains in existence. If the School of Physician Assistants ceases to exist, the Gift will revert to the College of Medicine, as long as it remains in existence. If the College of Medicine ceases to exist, the Gift may be used for any purpose the Foundation deems fit to benefit UF.
