Endowment for Classical Indian Music

Fund Purpose
Support public performances sponsored by UF by artists in classical Indian music, dance or theatre, in that order of priority and for student scholarships to attend other workshops offered by these artists or other artists at CHITRA (Center for the Study of Hindu Traditions) in the CLAS. Director of CHITRA may consult with an advisory board comprised of up to 3 donors to the fund in the award process. Advisory board members to be chosen from Donors who have given $1,000 or more to the fund and may volunteer to serve or be nominated by another donor who has also given $1,000 or more to the fund. Also included on the advisory board will be a UF faculty member from the Center for World Arts at the College of Fine Arts. The Director of CHITRA or his/her designee will serve advisory board chair and will have final approval on the appointment of the advisory board and the uses of the fund.

This fund was established in 2008 through various donors to support public performances sponsored by the University of Florida, by artists in classical Indian music, dance or theatre, and for student scholarships to attend other workshops offered by these artists or other artists at CHITRA in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
