Thomas H. Maren, M.D. Eminent Chair in Pharmacology and Therapeutics

The Thomas H. Maren Foundation established this fund to support an eminent scholar chair in the Department of Pharmacology. Thomas earned his bachelor’s degree from Princeton, his medical degree from Johns Hopkins and was a founding faculty member of the College of Medicine. He spent the majority of his career on research at the University of Florida, where his discoveries paved the way for the development of new drugs to treat heart and kidney disease, brain fluid disorders and altitude sickness. He passed away in 1999 at the age of 81.
