Robert B. Peters Scholarship
The fund’s general purpose is to provide scholarships to junior and senior undergraduate and graduate students who show outstanding ability and initiative in the fields of physics, biology, mathematics, psychology, music, or engineering, or any related or derivative field existing at the time of awarding.
The scholarship is renewable, provided the student continues to be in an eligible field of study: awards to students will be made for one or two years of study, or longer if required, for educational costs to include tuition, fees, books, room and board and other incidental maintenance expenses.
Individual award amounts will be determined by the availability of funds earned by the endowment, existing awards needing renewal, and the recipients’ need. Scholarships may be awarded in partial amounts. The aggregate award to any individual student will not exceed $40,000.00.
The scholarships shall be made in any sequence among the categories set forth below. 1. to three (3) graduate or under-graduate engineering students in junior or senior standing,
2. to a graduate or undergraduate music student in junior or senior standing,
3. to a graduate student working towards a Master’s or Doctorate degree in the fields of physics, biology or mathematics or to a student working towards a Doctorate degree in psychology, and
4. to a student in any field of study but not excluding any of the fields mentioned above.
To clarify the above, three out every six awards shall be made to engineering students.
Thereafter, when students in each of the above categories have been provided for in accordance with the foregoing recommendations and suggestions, it is the Settlor’s recommendation that the awards be repeated.
As used herein, the terms “physics,” “biology,” “mathematics,” “music,” and “psychology” shall be interpreted to mean and to include any and all related, inter-related or derivative fields of study.
