Watkins Professional Improvement Fund

Provides financial assistance to graduate students whose course of study is in subtropical fruits with emphasis upon limes, avocados and mangos, including their production and marketing. The recipient of the scholarship will be a resident of the State of Florida. See Letter of Agreement for more information.

Construction, maintenance and furnishing of a building to provide classroom space for the Agricultural Operations Management and Biological Engineering programs for students to engage in experiential learning activities and explore design elements in engineering.

Support teaching, research, and Extension activities associated with natural resources and Florida grazing lands, including the activities at the UF/IFAS Range Cattle Research and Education Center (RCREC) located in Ona, Florida. Spendable income shall be used exclusively for this purpose. Further, it is the intent of the Donor that if the current research facilities at the (UF/IFAS Ona RCREC are ever discontinued or significantly diminished so that the present level of research as is it now being conducted at RCREC is no longer feasible, the research will be continued at any alternative facility with substantially the same capabilities to conduct the described research. Because of the significant differences present on southern Florida grazing landscapes, it is the intent that this research shall be conducted in the region from the present Interstate 4 (I-4) corridor southward. The Donor maintains the right to redirect the endowment's use should it determine that needs change and the spendable portion could be better utilized in a different area. Should the Donor choose to redirect the endowment's spendable portion for a purpose acceptable to the University, IFAS Development will work in conjunction with the Donor to amend the gift agreement.
