This scholarship honors the life of Darrey A. Davis, a consummate trial lawyer, community leader and pioneer in the development of The Florida Bar. Davis was a 1934 graduate of the UF College of Law and a partner with Steel, Hector and Davis until his death in 1986. He was the first Dade County attorney to work under the Metro form of government from 1957-64. He was also the first president of the Florida Bar in 1954-55 after the Florida Supreme Court’s disciplinary board merged with the Florida Bar Association. After leaving Dade County politics, Davis and Louis J. Hector formed a firm dedicated to both corporate and litigation law. This partnership developed into Steel, Hector and Davis.
