Frederick B. Smith Scholarship

Support scholarship awards to students studying Wildlife Ecology and Conservation who have demonstrated a commitment to conservation and wildlife in Florida. Students must achieve a minimum G.P.A. of 3.00, preference given to students with financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Affairs who are from the Southwest Florida area: Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee, Collier, and Manatee Counties or if no such applicant from Southwest Florida is eligible, a student from the state of Florida. It is the Donor's preference that, as the income of the Fund increases, it can be used to support multiple scholarships each year. Student who have already received the award are eligible to apply each year.

Support current and future activities of soil and water science faculty and graduate students working in thrust area of "Wetlands and Aquatic Ecosystems". Funds will be used to invite annually one distinguished named speaker and provide funding for graduate students pursuing cutting-edge research in wetlands/aquatic systems, and travel funds for grad students to visit nationally recognized labs to learn new techniques.
