The best time to purchase your UF license plate is during your vehicle registration renewal period, which begins three months before your registration expires. However, you may change your plate at any time. Additional fees may apply.

Yes. If outside your renewal cycle, you will need to pay all registration fees associated with your vehicle registration renewal at the time of purchase and then again at your time of renewal. Ten years. The State of Florida requires that all specialty plates be replaced every ten years. Your local Tax Collector Office or DMV will automatically issue you a new plate during your tenth year of specialty plate ownership. Unfortunately, no. The State of Florida does now allow pre-orders for specialty license plates.
