Purpose
Support Florida Opportunity Scholarships for students who are studying in the Department of Civil and Coastal Engineering within the College. If the Florida Opportunity Scholarship program ceases to exist at the University then the spendable income shall be used to support scholarship awards to first generation Florida students with low incomes studying in the Department of Civil and Coastal Engineering within the College.

This fund was established in 2012 by Mike and Pat Varner to support students in the Florida Opportunity Scholars Program studying in the College of Engineering’s Department of Civil/Coastal Engineering at the University of Florida.
Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida in 1970. Pat also earned a bachelor’s degree from UF in 1970 from the college of Liberal Arts and Science
