Support the Dr. Chris Newton Excellence in Education and Diabetes Care Award, an annual award to an outstanding visiting professor of national recognition in the field of diabetes education and patient care. It includes a 2-day visit to the University of Florida to provide informal teaching/interaction with endocrine fellows, housestaff and students, as well as two lectures, one at Endocrine and Diabetes Grand Rounds and at Medicine Grand Rounds, to promote a better understanding of barriers and novel strategies to deliver better diabetes care.

The spendable income from the fund shall be used to award the Ray Bierstedt award to a first-year intern in the Department of Surgery. If, after making the awards, additional spendable income remains, then the spendable income may be used to support the first year residents with travel-related expenses for meetings and conferences.
