Judge Ben Krentzman Scholarship

Support the programs and research of the Center for Government Responsibility (CGR) for the benefit of faculty and students.

Support an annual speaker series titled "the Wolf Family Lecture on the American Law of Real Property"; the term "real property" is intended to include the subject areas included in the treatise entitled Powell on Real Property. Those subject areas include, but are not limited to the following: present estates and futures interests; easements, licenses, and restrictive covenants; concurrent ownership; eminent domain; police power and regulatory takings; condominiums, cooperatives, homeowner associations, and timesharing; landlord and tenant law; conveyancing, including deeds, recording acts, and title insurance; land use planning and regulation; environmental statutes and regulations as they affect real property; mortgages, liens, and foreclosures; nuisance and trespass; adverse possession of real property; restraints on alienation and the rule against perpetuities; tax aspect of real estate transactions. There will be at least one Wolf Family lecture during each academic year. If there is only one lecture during a specific academic year, it will be an original lecture delivered by a widely recognized, leading, academic expert on the American real property law who is a permanent law faculty member with a distinguished publication record in the field of the American law of real property. If there is a second Wolf Family lecture during a specific academic year, it will be an original lecture delivered by a widely recognized, leading, academic expert on American real property law who is currently a sitting judge with a distinguished record in the area of the American law of real property. The lecture series will support the educational mission of the College and advance the legal education of UF law students and other constituencies of the College Appendix A, attached to and part of this Gift Agreement sets forth other details with regard to the Wolf Family Lectures. Appendix may be amended by agreement of donors and the Dean of Levin College of Law. No amendment to Appendix A may alter or modify any provision or term of this Gift Agreement. In the event of any inconsistency or conflict between the Gift Agreement and Appendix A, the Gift Agreement supersedes and preempts Appendix A. Appendix A supplements terms of the Gift Agreement. Unless Donors and the Dean of the Levin College of Law designate a different mechanism for selecting the annual Wolf Family lecturers, the tenure track faculty members teaching real property and related courses at the UF Levin College of Law will select the annual lecturers. The lecture will be advertised and open to the public, including students and faculty members at other colleges in UF and faculty members of other law schools throughout the nation. It is anticipated that, as part of the agreement with each lecturer, the text of the lecture will be published in Powell on Real Property, subject to editorial approval by the publisher. Also as part of the agreement with each lecturer, the lecturer will make a presentation at a law faculty colloquy on a topic chosen by the lecturer. The Levin College of Law will also host a luncheon or dinner in honor of the lecturer to which members of the Wolf Family will be invited as guests. None of the Wolf Family Lecture events will conflict with the Jewish Sabbath or with major Jewish holidays.

Support scholarships in the Frederic J. Levin College of Law; scholarships will not be awarded based only on race or national origin so long as such awards are prohibited at UF by Office of Civil Rights of US Dept of Education, or by any other federal or state laws, rules or regulations; in the event these restrictions no longer apply or exist UF may award scholarships according to 1991 gift agreement.
