Edwin Willinger Trust Scholarship

Fund Purpose
Established by the Trustees of the Edwin Willinger Charitable Trust for deserving high school graduates from Miami Country Day School and Miami Killian High School (both schools are locate in Dade County) for students entering the University of Florida with strong academic performance (but not necessarily the highest grades), and strong extracurricular and/or community service or, in the alternative, responsible work history, who might be otherwise unable to pay tuition or other college expenses. The award amount varies but is intended, if suitable funds are available, to cover the cost of tuition and books for the first year of college. The number of recipients shall depend upon the income available from the Fund. Recipients must be able to and be nominated by the selection committee of the high school selected by the Trustees. The high schools shall establish a committee of not less than two (2) individuals who shall select graduating seniors who shall attend the University of Florida an who, in the committee's opinion, have been an asset to their school by demonstrating the qualities previously described herein together with financial need. The high school selection committee shall place the names of the students on their list in order of suitability as determined by the selection committee. The Office of Student Financial Affairs at the University of Florida shall make the final selection based on the student meeting financial need guidelines; however, if the student qualifies under said guidelines, the University of Florida shall select the student or students in the order they appear on the high school committees' selection lists. Scholarship recipients shall be required to write the Trustees of the Edwin Willinger Charitable Trust to identify themselves upon acceptance of the funds. The Trustees reserve the right to substitute other schools.
